DUSHANBE, January 12, Asia-Plus – Open joint stock company (OJSC) Tekstil (Textiles) intends to submit for consideration to Chinese entrepreneurs a project for launching joint venture.  

Anvar Sunnatov, head of the Tekstil planning company, said in interview with Asia-Plus that during a business forum in Beijing, their company will offer the Chinese side for consideration two investment projects for rehabilitation and modernization of the company’s factories.  The project for rehabilitation of the company’s spinning factory costs $18 million and the costs of the project for modernization of the company’s weaving production is $60 million, according to him. 

“Our company is also ready to consider the possibility of launching a joint venture,” Sunnatov said.  

According to him, the rated capacity of the their company is processing 25,000 tons of cotton fiber per year.  “However, we currently process not more than 5,000-6,000 tons of cotton fiber per year,” the Tekstil official said, adding that this year, they plan to increase procession of cotton fiber to 10,000 tons.  “If we reach an agreement with Chinese entrepreneurs on launching the joint venture this volume may increase by 50 percent,” Sunnatov said.

Founded in 1942, the Dushanbe textile factory was transformed into the open joint-stock company Tekstil in June 2000.  The company groups six factories: Fabrikai Resandagiyu Bofandagi (spinning-weaving factory); Nassoji (hosiery); Bofanda (yarn); Dushanbe bandage and gauze factory; and Tajik-Polish JV TajPolTex
