DUSHANBE, January 15, Asia-Plus — A presentation of three new textbooks was held in Dushanbe on January 13. 

The textbooks “History of the Tajik People” and “Information Technology” for eleventh-form pupils and “Russian Language” for sixth-form pupils at Tajik-language schools have been published as part of the education development support project funded by the World Bank and the Tajik government.  

Education Minister Abdujabbor Rahmonov told the presentation ceremony that the new textbooks will really promote improvement of pupils’ knowledge of those subjects.  

Isroil Ismoilov, director of the educational development project management unit, noted that they had to date published and distributed to schools across the country $1.98 million worth of textbooks on 23 subjects having a total circulation of a 1,832,000 copies.  

            The minister also pointed to the necessity of using new technologies in book printing.  He, in particular, set a task on projecting a new program on teaching the Russian language in the country by May this year.   

The “History of the Tajik People” (57,000 copies) and “Russian Language” (100,000 copies) textbooks have been published at the printing-house Sobiriyon and “Information Technology” (40,000 copies) has been published at the printing-house Mavlavi.
