DUSHANBE, January 20, Asia-Plus — First Deputy Foreign Minister, Saymoumin Yatimov, has termed present level of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and China as the most glancing example of successful cooperation of Tajikistan with other countries.  

“Last year, Tajikistan and China launched a series of large investment projects in the fields of energy, transportation and transport infrastructure both on bilateral and multilateral levels,” Yatimov told journalists on January 19.

 He noted that the two countries had laid a good foundation of further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation. 

Last year, a trade between Tajikistan and China amounted to $200 million, according to him.  

“Rahmonov”s state visit to China that started on January 15 is dedicated to promote further expansion of ties between our countries,” said Yatimov, “Six bilateral documents, including a friendship and cooperation treaty, were signed in Beijing” . 

We will recall that on January 15,  Rahmonov held talks in Beijing with his Chinese counterpart, President Hu Jintao, and attended a business and investment forum between China and Tajikistan on January 16 together with Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi.  On January 16, Tajik president also met with Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People”s Congress (NPC), China”s top legislative body.  On January 17, Rahmonov arrived Sanya in China”s southernmost Hainan Province, where he is to stay for five days.  The same day, he held talks with the Provincial Governor Luo Baoming.
