DUSHANBE, February 7, Asia-Plus — Tajik President Emomali Rahmonov yesterday met with a group of Tajik students studying at higher educational institutions in Egypt.  The meeting was held at Meridian Heliopolis Hotel in Cairo.   

According to Abdufattoh Sharipov, a spokesman for the Tajik president, Rahmonov briefed the students on a national strategy, the main objective of which is to turn Tajikistan into developed democratic state.  

“Rahmonov outlined energy and transportation infrastructure as the priorities of the country’s economic policy and noted that the strategic goals to improve living level of the population can be achieved through successful use of existing potentials and training of skilled personnel,” the spokesman said.  

According to Sharipov, the head of state noted that implementation of strategic plans and programs in the fields of energy, industry, agriculture, tourism and social sector will strengthen national unity and lay foundation of modern economy as well as will raise regional and international role of Tajikistan.  

“To implement these programs and plans Tajikistan will need more than 50,000 skilled specialists in energy, telecommunications, mining and light industry, construction, transportation, tourism, marketing, economic management, information technologies, and public management within the next several years,” Rahmonov said, according to the spokesman.
