KULOB, February 13, Asia-Plus – A conference held by the Islamic Revival Party (IRPT) in the Hamadoni district today named Abduqodir Hasanpour, head of the IRPT organization for Hamadoni, as its candidate for the additional parliamentary election in the Hamadoni constituency that will be held on April 1.

According to the electoral commission, Abduqodir Hasanpour, 46, graduated from Faculty of Tajik Philology at Tajik National University.  He had previously worked with the educational sector in the Hamadoni district.

In the meantime, Communists have not yet decided whether they will field their candidate in the additional election in the Kulob constituency, which is also set for April 1, or not.

Sharif Safarov, the head of the Communist Party’s (CPT) regional organization for Kulob, said that the main obstacle is a high registration fee on candidates.  “We will meet once again on February 17 to consider this issue,” Sharif Saidov said.

Asked about the possibility of Communists’ supporting candidate named by People’s Democratic Party (DPT), Safarov said, “We will, if candidate is not member of the PDPT and shows fairness to the Communist Party.”

The PDPT is expected to name its candidate for coming the additional parliamentary election in the Kulob constituency on February 22.
