DUSHANBE, March 19, Asia-Plus — The possibility of the World Bank’s supporting the implementation of two ambitious energy projects in Tajikistan – the construction of Sangtuda-1 and Roghun power stations – is expected to be one of major topics of a meeting of President Emomali Rahmonov with visiting World Bank Country Director, Central Asia, Ms. Annette Dixon, that will be held in Dushanbe today afternoon.

According to the WB Dushanbe Office, during her first official visit to Tajikistan, Ms. Dixon is scheduled to hold talks with high-ranking Tajik state officials to discuss preparations for the upcoming meeting of Consultative Group of Donors on Tajikistan, which is expected to be held in Dushanbe in June, as well as a progress of the implementation of economic reforms in the country.  

 Ms Annette Dixon is World Bank Country Director, Central Asia from February 15, 2007.  Annette Dixon, a New Zealand national, joined the World Bank as Health Sector Manager, Europe and Central Asia in March 1999.  In November 1999, she was appointed to the position of Director of the Human Development Sector Unit in the Europe and Central Asia Region.  Her responsibilities included oversight of the unit”s activities in Education, Health, and Social Protection, and membership of the Human Development Council, and the Health, Nutrition & Population Sector Board.  From August 1, 2003, Ms. Dixon became Director of Strategy and Operations in the Europe and Central Asia Region, assisting the Regional Vice President in the management of all activities in the region.
