DUSHANBE, March 26, Asia-Plus – On March 20, President Emomali Rahmonov held a traditional meeting with representatives of the intelligentsia.

More than 300 known representatives from Tajik intelligentsia from all regions of the country, including researchers, lecturers with higher educational institutions and artistes, attended that meeting that was held at the Center for Strategic Studies in Dushanbe. 

The president congratulated them on the occasion of Navrouz and urged development of sound society in his address.  He noted that the government realizes problems facing cultural and other spheres and is taking measures to tackle them. 

He also announced that he wants to return to Tajik traditional version of his name “Emomali Rahmon.”  The president also urged to return to the use of traditional place names.  

He also proposed to name the Dushanbe Central Park after Abuabdullo Rudaki, Tajik State Pedagogical University after Sadriddin Ayni, and Tajik State Philharmonic Society after Akasharif Jurayev. 

The head of state also charged relevant bodies to prepare and publish the new Tajikistan’s National Encyclopedia and new Explanatory Dictionary of the Tajik Language, as well as project the single computer program of the Tajik language.
