KHUJAND, April 17, Asia-Plus — Sughd governor Abduqohir Nazirov has announced competition on the regional coat arms.
According to the informational-analytical department of the Sughd government, the main goal of the contest is to propagandize a role of the province and its residents in development of economy, science, culture and literature in Tajikistan. The source added that any citizen or creative group of Tajikistan may take part in the competition and submit to for consideration to jury one and more designs.
“The Sughd coat of arms should reflect features and significance of the Sughd province, its role in history of the Tajik people and independent Tajikistan,” the source said, noting that 2,000 somonis in prize money will given for the first place, 1,500 somonis for the second place and 1,000 for the third place.
The competition is taking place from April 15 to June 15, 2007.
