The source at the Project said that the action participants included children participating in the Alternative Justice for Minor Project as well as children from the Children’s Creative Center.  They celebrated GYSD with cleanup at the site of the future children’s playground.

The source noted that the district authorities and the USAID-funded Drug Demand Reduction Program run by the Tajik Branch of Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF) are partners to the Child Rights Project.

Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) is organized by Youth Service America with the Global Youth Action Network as its key partner and a consortium of international organizations and over 120 national coordinating committees in participating countries.  GYSD is an annual global event that highlights and celebrates the contributions of youth to their communities through volunteer service.

During Global Youth Service Day, youth around the world organize community service projects to address local needs. GYSD is held during a weekend every April.  This year, the event was held on April 20-22. GYSD is celebrated in over 120 countries in every region of the world.
