DUSHANBE, May 15, Asia-Plus – The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Tajikistan Klaas van der Temple today presented credentials to President Emomali Rahmon.

After a meeting with President Rahmon, Klaas van der Temple told journalists that during the meeting they had discussed prospects of expansion of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.  He noted that the Netherlands is the main trade partner of Tajikistan among the European Union states.

According to him, they also touched upon issues related to the situation in Afghanistan.

Asked about prospects of economic cooperation between the Netherlands and Tajikistan, the diplomat outlined two aspects, which could drive the bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries – good investment climate and the necessity of raising image of Tajikistan in his country.  “At present many companies from different countries are interested in cooperating with Tajikistan and it is a good tendency,” the Netherlands Ambassador said.
