DUSHANBE, May 17, Asia-Plus – A trans-Asian agreement on cooperation between associations of markets and commercial enterprises of China’s Xinjinag-Uighur Autonomous Region, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and the Dushanbe trade and markets directorate was signed in Tajik capital on May 15.

According to the Dushanbe trade and markets directorate, the agreement will allow Central Asia’s states going over to using more efficient forms of regulating markets’ activities.

The agreement provides for establishment of the single network of logistical terminals.  The sides also plan to create the single transportation corporation in the future for shipping cargoes from one country to another one

Bahriddin Valiyev, the head of the Dushanbe trade and markets directorate, has said in an interview with Asia-Plus that the agreement is of great economic significance for entrepreneurs.  “If earlier, our markets had practically been uncontrollable and there had been redundancy or shortage of this or that product on the markets, now we will be able to control goods traffic through the trans-Asian markets’ network,” Valiyev said.

According to him, Tajikistan intends to set up the National Association of Markets that would unite domestic producers and entrepreneurs and form the single goods transportation network.

During the meeting, Kazakhstan sought supply of farm produce from Tajikistan, the capital trade and markets directorate head said.  “Moreover, the Kazakh side is ready to recover Tajik farmers’ expenses on fuel and seeds,” Valiyev said.  For its part, Tajikistan has urgent needs in Kazakh grain and wheat flour.

The first pilot project under the signed agreement will be mutual supply of agricultural products.
