DUSHANBE, July 17, Asia-Plus — Over the second quarter of the year, passenger traffic through international terminal-1, operated by open joint-stock company Nourafshon, at the Khujand airport has increased, reaching more than 17,000 people, Asia-Plus has learned from Artyom Geivandov, a chief spokesman for the terminal. 

According to him, the number passengers departing from the Khujand airport decreased from 12,080 in April to 9,445 in June.  “At the same time, the number of passengers arriving in the Khujand airport over the report period has increased from 5,339 people in April to 7,833 people in June,” Geivandov said.  

The chief spokesman added that the volume of commercial services provided by the terminal since August 2006, when it was opened, has increased more than five times.

“Over the past year, we have practically completed the work on technical equipment and improvement of the terminal,” Geivandov said, adding that Nourafshon, which operates the terminal, intends to initiate new business projects in the third quarter.  

The Nourafshon top manager Karimjon Ahmadov noted that those new business projects include creation of a chain of shops for selling goods of internationally branded producers in the territory of the terminal.
