DUSHANBE, August 20, Asia-Plus — Over the past seven months, the foreign trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electric energy and natural gas, has amounted to $2.1209 billion, which 122.7 percent of the January-July 2007 level or $393 million more, Asia-Plus has learned at the State Committee for Statistics.  

The trade balance was negative and amounted to $381.8 million.

Exports of goods in January-July 2007 have amounted to 896.6 million US dollars, which is10.8 percent or $85.1 million more than in the same period of 2006.  Imports of goods into the country over the report period have amounted to $1.2513 billion, which is 32.6 percent or $307.9 percent more than in January-July 2006.     

Over the same seven-month period, Tajikistan has had foreign trade relations with 84 countries, including 11 CIS states.  

According to the State Committee for Statistics, the CIS states have accounted for 43.6 percent ($924.6 million) of Tajikistan’s foreign trade turnover in January-July 2007, and the far abroad countries have accounted for 56.4 percent ($1.1963 billion).

The balance of trade with the CIS states has been negative and amounted to $678.2 million, while the balance of trade with the far abroad countries has been positive and amounted to $296.4 million.  

The CIS countries have accounted for 64 percent ($801.4 million) of Tajik imports, while the far abroad countries have accounted for 85.8 percent ($746.4 million) of Tajik exports.  

Over the report period, Tajikistan’s main export partners: The Netherlands – 44.6 percent; Turkey – 30.6 percent, Russia – 5.9 percent’ Uzbekistan – 5.0 percent; Iran – 2.8 percent; Kazakhstan – 2.0 percent, Switzerland – 1.0 percent, Latvia – .7 percent; Italy – 1.0 percent; Afghanistan and China  0.7 percent each; Ukraine, Poland and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – 0.4 percent each.   .

Imports came mainly from the CIS countries: Russia – 28.7.2 percent of the overall volume of imports; Kazakhstan – 14.6 percent; Uzbekistan – 11.6 percent; Azerbaijan – 2.9 percent; Ukraine – 2.1 percent; Turkmenistan – 2.0 percent; Kyrgyzstan – 1.2 percent ; Belarus – 0.8 percent; and from the  following far abroad countries: China – 9.6 percent; Italy – 4.5 percent; UAE – 3.0 percent; Jamaica – 2.6 percent; Turkey – 2.5 percent; Lithuania – 1.6 percent; Iran – 1.5 percent; Brazil – 1.2 percent; the United States – 1.1 percent; Estonia – 1.0 percent; South Korea and Germany – 0.9 percent each, Afghanistan – o.8 percent, Greece and Latvia – 0.5 percent and so forth.
