KHUJAND, August 28, Asia-Plus — 201 Uzbek-language schools accommodating totaling 110,140 pupils, now function in northern Tajikistan, Saidmukhor Jalolov, the head of the Sughd education directorate, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
“31 Uzbek-language schools to accommodate 19,778 pupils now function in the Jabborrasulov district and 13 Uzbek-language schools with totaling 3,000 now function in the Mastchoh district, Jalolov said, adding that faculties at teachers’ training higher educational institutions functioning in northern Tajikistan also have one Uzbek-language group each.
Besides, there are 14 schools mixed schools with Tajik, Russian and Uzbek languages of teaching in the region, the education sector head said. According to him, the Spitamen and Bobojonghafurov district have three such schools each. The Isfara district also has Tajik-Russian-Uzbek-language schools, while other districts in the province have one such mixed school each.
