DUSHANBE, August 28, Asia-Plus – The Peninsula – Tajikistan and Qatar yesterday signed a number of agreements and memorandum of understanding, Qatar’s The Peninsula reported.

The documents were signed in the presence of President Emomali Rahmon and the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who is on a two-day official visit to Tajikistan.

The agreements include a MoU in the investment sector, setting up a council for businessmen between the country’s chambers of commerce and industry.  

The MoU and the agreement were signed by Tajikistan’s Finance Minister Safarali Najmuddinov and Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sharif Saidov, while on the Qatari side they were signed by Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of Economy and Commerce Yousuf Hussein Kamal.  

The sides also signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between the Qatari Mawashi (livestock) company and two Tajik livestock companies.  The two MoUs were signed for Mawashi by its Director-General Sultan Jawhar al Abdullah, while for the two Tajik companies were signed by their directors.

Earlier, a session of official talks was held in Dushanbe between President Emomali Rahmon and the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.   The talks were attended by the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor al Thani, Yousuf Hussein Kamal, Chief of the Emiri Diwan Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Saud Al Thani and members of the delegation accompanying the Emir. Talks dealt with boosting bilateral relations.
