DUSHANBE, August 31, Asia-Plus — This academic year, 177,693 first-formers will go school in Tajikistan, which is 1,361 children more than in 2006, Asia-Plus has learned at the Ministry of Education (MoE).   

Noilsho Nouraliyev, a spokesman for a MoE, told Asia-Plus that a total number of secondary school students in Tajikistan is 1,723,140 people.  

Today morning, President Emomali Rahmon inaugurated a new school in the Khovaron area of Dushanbe.  This school is capable to accommodate 1,154 pupils.  

3,830 schools now function in Tajikistan; another 78 schools will open in new academic year.
