DUSHANBE, September 24, Asia-Plus — Tajik police intercepted more than 18 kilograms of heroin last weekends.

The source at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said that their officers detained Afghan national Nosir valadi Hasan in Khatlon’s Farkhor district on September 22.  15.6 kilograms of heroin were confiscated from him.   

The same day, some two kilograms of heroin were confiscated from Afghan citizen Sadullo valadi Saidavaz in Khatlon’s Nosir Khusrav district.   

“On Sunday, September 23, Isfandiyor Saidov, resident of the Vahdat district, was detained in Dushanbe on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking,” said the source at a MoI, “Some 1.5 kilograms of heroin were confiscated from him.”  

In January-August 2007, Tajik law enforcement agencies have seized 3,568 kilograms of drugs, including 1,122 kilograms of heroin.  Of this amount, 1,954 kilograms of drugs, with 709 kilograms of them being heroin, have been intercepted by the MoI officers.
