In 2006, 11 pregnant women diagnosed HIV in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, September 25, Asia-Plus — In 2006, 3,042 pregnant women in Tajikistan were tested for HIV/AIDS; of them, 11 were diagnosed with the disease.

This was remarked at a meeting of a working group on preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS in Tajikistan that was held at the Ministry of Health (MoH) on September 24.  

The MoH press service said that the meeting participants had discussed issues related to protection of mother and child health in the country.  They also discussed issues related to HIV/ADIS diagnosis and ways of preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS in the country.  

The working group on preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS in Tajikistan was held in the beginning of this year.
