DUSHANBE, October 31, Asia-Plus — To remove obstacles on the way of trace and economic cooperation between member nationals of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) the 8th General Assembly Session of the ECO Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ECO-CCI) has made a decision to set up a permanent secretariat of ECO-CCI, Asia-Plus has learned at the Tajik CCI. 

Secretariat’s headquarters will be located in Istanbul. 

The source said the 8th General Assembly Session of ECO-CCI, which was held in Istanbul, Turkey on October 26 was attended by the national chambers of the ECO member nations.  Tajikistan was represented by the deputy CCI chairman, Asanali Karamaliyev. Karamaliyev delivered a statement outlined priorities and main directions of cooperation of Tajikistan with the ECO member nations. 

Besides discussing implementation of ECO Trade Agreement (ECOTA), Agreement on Promotion and Protection of Investment (APPI) and Customs Offences Data Bank Agreement, the General Assembly meeting consider necessary steps to institutionalize the Business Forum.

ECO also organized a Business Forum and  Buyers-Sellers Meeting in Istanbul, in collaboration with the State Planning Organization (SPO) of Turkey and leading trade organizations as part of the 2nd phase of the ECO-ITC Project, on October 24-25.  

The Business Forum and Buyers-Sellers Meeting focused on the sub-sectors of construction and building material industry, including marble and granite, iron, steel, plastic, aluminum and other metal products, sanitary items, paints/varnishes and other chemicals.  The event was aimed at promoting business contacts among manufacturers and importers of the ECO member nations.
