DUSHABE, October 31, Asia-Plus  — Tajik government has considered issues related to taking timely preparations to ensure the regular work of the country”s economy during autumn-winter 2007-2008, presidential press service said.   

A session of the Tajik government presided over by Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov was held on October 31.  

The session, in particular, heard the account of the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) on a progress of preparation of economic and social facilities for regular work during autumn-winter 2007-2008.

Energy and Industries Minister Gul Sherali noted that they hope to avoid another winter of electricity shortages and alleviate the severe power shortages Tajikistan faces each winter through introducing into operation some heat stations.   

The work on construction of hydropower plants and rehabilitation of heats stations is under way and with introduction into operation of the first unit of the Sangtuda-1 power plant and completion of repair-and-renewal operations at the Dushanbe and Yovon heat stations generation of electrical power will increase in the country, the minister said.   

Provision of population and economic facilities with coal, liquefied and natural gas will improve as well, according to him.   

The session also endorsed a program of strategic works for 2008, a national program for development of vocational education for 2008-2015, a concept of information system of management of education sector and a number of other programs.   .
