DUSHANBE, November 8, Asia-Plus  — Two Tajik museums –the historical-cultural reserve “Hissor” and the museum complex “Hulbuk” – have been recognized winners of the competition “Technical Support for Small Museums” that ended in Dushanbe in early November, Safar Shosaidov, an official with the Ministry of Culture (MoC), said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, they were provided with office equipment with access to Internet that will be used for creation of their electronic catalogues.

The MoC official noted that the ministry should make an inventory of all the museum pieces in the country before 2009.  “The ministry has already sent proposals on inventory of the museum holdings for consideration to the government,” said Shosaidov, “We have already set up a working group for inventorying the museum holdings; however, we need funds to start the inventory work.”

The competition “Technical Support for Small Museums”, organized by Kazakhstan’s Center for Modern Culture “Desht-i Art”, was conducted in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.

The main objective of the competition was to promote creation of a network of museum specialists in Central Asia, development of communications among museums and other cultural facilities in Central Asia, as well enhancement of work of small museums in the region.
