DUSHANBE, November 15, Asia-Plus  – The 11th session of the Energy Policy Council under the Integration Committee of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) is being held at the Kokhi Vahdat State Complex in Dushanbe today.

The session participants include experts from the EAEC member nations, permanent representatives of member nations to the Community, as well as specialists from the EAC Secretariat.  

According to the foreign economic relations department of the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI), the meeting is discussing joint measures to develop energy sector, including transit of electrical power between the EAEC member nations.

The meeting is expected to result in signing of documents on implementing specific energy projects.  

The previous session of the Energy Policy Council was held in Minsk, Belarus in April this year.  Issues related to setting up a common energy market of EAEC were discussed in Minsk.   The sides also discussed preparation of a concept of shaping the EAEC common energy market. 

 Preparing an agreement on the establishment and functioning of the EAEC common oil and gas market was also one of major topics of the meeting in Belarus.  The sides also considered the formation of the EAEC energy budget for 2008-2010

Participants of the Minsk also considered a draft concept of the effective utilization of hydropower resources of Central Asia.  Besides, the session tabled the transit of electricity between EAEC countries.
