President urges to toughen responsibility for violation of land legislation

DUSHANBE, November 29, Asia-Plus  — More than 40 issues were discussed at a November 28 session of the government presided over by President Emomali Rahmon.  

According to presidential press service, Suhrob Rahimov was appointed deputy head of Barqi Tojik (Tajik electric systems) power holding.  

On the report of the Vahdat mayor about implementation of president’s decrees and government’s resolutions, President Rahmon pointed to the necessity of intensifying work on collection of taxes and increasing quantity of bank loans to rural entrepreneurs. 

The government also endorsed bill on national security and amendments to the water code as well as the national program of external borrowings for 2008-2010.   It was noted that 69 preferential loans totaling some $800 million are expected to be attracted in the country’s economy over the mentioned period.  

The government adopted a resolution on establishment of the Danghara Republican Culture Preserve and endorsed sheet of rules for transferring lands from one category to the other one.  

The session also approved the single targeted program for preventing drug addiction and drug trafficking for 2008-2012, resolutions on holding the 7th Forum of Tajiks and Persian-Speaking Peoples in 2008, international conference on reduction in water-related disaster risks next summer, plan of development of areas requiring irrigation for 2008-2012, and rules of registration of dangerous productions in a state register.  

Speaking at the meeting, the anticorruption agency chief Sherkhon Salimov reported on the results of inspection of use of lands in the cities and districts in 2005-2007 and financial state of Dushanbegaz (Dushanbe natural-gas-distributor).  

According to Salimov, improper use of lands in Isfara, Vahdat, Kulob, Bobojonghafurov, Varzob, Khuroson, Rudaki and Jomi evokes serious concern.  

The president demanded at the meeting urgent measures should be introduced and responsibility for violation of the land legislation should be toughened.

On Dushanbegaz, the anticorruption agency chief sad that after inspection and measures introduced by the ministry of energy and industries and the Dushanbe mayor’s office the situation had improved.  

The head of state also urged to improve work on providing the sites for construction of the Sangtuda-1 and Sangtuda-2 power plants and other being built energy facilities as well as the Anzob tunnel and the being built Shar Shar tunnel.  He also pointed to the necessity of making preparations for introduction of the first unit o the Sangtuda-1 station into operation.
