DUSHANBE, November 30, Asia-Plus  — On November 29, the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) hosted a meeting with participation of senior representatives from president’s office, ministries of agriculture and finance, as well as heads of commercial banks to discuss issues related to seeking the most acceptable forms of crediting farming units and the upcoming meeting of President Rahmon with Tajik entrepreneurs, due in December, the NBT said.    

 Inaugurating the meeting, the NBT Chairman Murodali Alimardonov underlined the importance of the issue of providing loans to dehqan (peasant) farms.   “The goal of our meeting is to determine the perfect forms of providing loans ,” the central bank head said, pointing the necessity of simplifying the procedure of preparation of documentation for getting loans.  

To fulfill this objective the meeting participants proposed to set up a working group from among representatives from central bank, commercial banks and the mentioned ministries.  The commission members will work in the provinces in cooperation with local authorities and heads of farming units explaining these issues.  

During the meeting it was noted that draft regulations on procedure of providing loans had been projected.  The draft regulations will be submitted to the working group for further improvement.  

The meeting participants also discussed mechanisms of guarantees of return of loans.  It was noted that certificates for use of land could serve as security of return of loan.
