DUSHANBE, December 7, Asia-Plus  — A two-day meeting of experts from the CIS states that opened in Minsk, Belarus yesterday has considered a draft concept of migration policy, mirtv.ru reported.     

A number of CIS states as well as the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the CIS Trade Unions Confederation and some other organizations have participated at the meeting..  

The meeting participants noted that the CIS migration policy, which of importance for formation of a common labor market, should be lesser rigorous. 

As it had been reported earlier, the draft concept had been prepared by the Republic of Tajikistan

We will recall that the mentioned concept was submitted for consideration to the CIS summit that was held in Dushanbe on October 5 and the CIS heads of state charged to consider the draft law in the prescribed manner.  

The CIS summit in Dushanbe considered a draft CIS Future Development Concept and a draft Plan of Main Actions to be taken to implement the Concept, proposals concerning coordinated migration policy are key issues on agenda of the session of the CIS Heads of State Council.  To tackle migration problems, the draft Plan of Main Actions provides for measures aimed at increasing the level of cooperation between migration agencies of the CIS member-states.  A list of joint measures to prevent illegal migration and regulate labor migration has been compiled.
