DUSHANBE, December 14, Asia-Plus — On Thursday December 13, the Indian Embassy in Dushanbe organized an official reception on occasion of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and India.
Representatives from all diplomatic missions accredited in Tajikistan and international organizations active in the country, as well as representatives from the Tajik government attended the reception.
An exhibition of works by Tajik pointer Zuhur Habibulloyev was organized on sidelines of the reception. The exhibition runs through December 21.
Diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and India were established on December 13 1992, and the Tajik Embassy was opened in New Delhi in August 2006. The present Tajik Ambassador to India is Salohiddin Nasriddinov, and Indian Ambassador to Tajikistan is Omar Singh.
Tajikistan and India have close bilateral cooperation in different fields, and India is supporting development of Tajikistan through providing assistance with training of personnel for Tajikistan. The two countries are closely cooperating in economic, education, and humanitarian-cultural spheres. India is also providing assistance to Tajikistan in rehabilitation of airfield Ayni and training of military personnel for the Tajik national army.
At present 76 Indian nationals are studying at various Tajik higher educational institutions and the Government of India has annually allotted Tajikistan a quota of 50 students since 2003.
