DUSHANBE, December 18, Asia-Plus  — Colonel Farhod Jaffarov, Representative of Tajikistan’s Ministry of Defense to Central Asia’s states, is participating at the 3rd regional seminar on teaching armed conflict law at primary military schools that opened in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on December 17, according to the Tajik Ministry of Defense (MoD).

The source at a MoD said that teachers with military schools from five Central Asian countries have gathered in Bishkek to exchange experiences and hear reports by their colleagues from the Suvorov military schools of Russia and Ukraine.

The seminar is organized by the International Committee for Red Cross (ICRC).

The armed conflict law arises from a desire among civilized nations to prevent unnecessary suffering and destruction while not impeding the effective waging of war.  A part of public international law, it regulates the conduct of armed hostilities.  It also aims to protect civilians, prisoners of war, the wounded, sick, and shipwrecked.  The armed conflict law applies to international armed conflicts and in the conduct of military operations and related activities in armed conflict, however such conflicts are characterized.
