DUSHANBE, January 7, Asia-Plus  — Tajik military are making preparations for a military parade that is scheduled to be held in Dushanbe on February 23 to mark the 15th anniversary of formation of Tajikistan’s National Army, according to the Ministry of Defense (MoD).

The source at a MoD said that officers and soldiers of the Dushanbe Garrison were currently rehearsing in the territories of their sub-units.  The main rehearsal will be held at the Ayni airfield in the Rudaki district.  

“Is not clear yet how many servicemen will march in February 23 parade this year,” said the source, “Thus, more than 11,000 servicemen from the Dushanbe Garrison, as well as Ministry of Interior and Committee for Emergency Situations, as well as members of the National Guard and Border Troops were on parade in 2006 to mark the 15th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence in Dushanbe on September 9.   

Tajik Defense Minister Colonel-General Sherali Khairulloyev and Commander of the Dushanbe Garrison Major-General Latif Fayziyev, will command the parade.
