DUSHANBE, January 19, Asia-Plus — Curriculum of Tajik State Islamic Institute, established on the basis of Islamic University named after Imam Tirmizi, will be prepared in accordance with standards of Tajik higher educational institutions, Education Minister Abdujabbor Rahmonov said.

According to him, curriculum of Tajik State Islamic Institute is being prepared on the basis of curricula of Islamic higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan and Russia’s Tatarstan.

The minister added that by government’s resolution Jamoliddin Alizoda had been appointed Chancellor of Tajik State Islamic Institute.  The institute should prepare its charter and submit all necessary registration documents to the ministries of education and justice before February 1.

Rahmonov noted that he had previously met students and teaching staff at the Islamic Imam Tirmizi University and it had turned out that many lecturers do not have proper education.  Therefore, a special commission has been set up to vet professionalism of teachers with the Islamic University, the minister said.

According to him, along with theological subjects students at State Islamic Institute will also study Arab philology, philosophy, history of Islam and other religions, etc.

As it had been reported earlier, Tajik State Islamic Institute was established by government’s resolution of November 2, 2007.
