DUSHANBE, February 20, Asia-Plus  — The project for restoration and reorganization of the municipal solid waste management system in Dushanbe was discussed at a meeting of Dushanbe mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev with visiting European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Director for Central Asia, Mr. Masaru Honma, that was held in the Tajik capital on February 19.  

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the capital mayor, said that during the meeting, the EBRD official had noted that the project would be approved on March 12 and the Bank would provide a $4 million loan for implementation of it.    

In the course of the talks, the two also discussed issues related to providing assistance to Dushanbe with improvement of heat and power supply systems through development of alternate energy resources and innovation technologies, including use of solar energy, the spokesman said.    

Ubaidulloyev and Honma also touched upon the issue of rehabilitation of ageing trolleybus wires in Dushanbe.
