DUSHANBE, April 2, Asia-Plus  — A group of Bulgarian officers led by Colonel Stoyan Bambov yesterday launched inspection of sub-units of Russian military base deployed in Tajikistan, Asia-Plus has learned at base’s headquarters in Dushanbe.   

The source at base’s headquarters said that the inspection is conducted in accordance with the Vienna Document on Confidence and Security-Building Measures in Europe of 1999, which limits some types of military activities and provides for exchange of information between participating states on large-scale military exercises.   

During four days, the Bulgarian officers will inspect sub-units of the Russian base deployed in Dushanbe, Kulob and Qurghon Teppa.  

Representatives of the participating States of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, the Holy See, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, the Russian Federation, San Marino, the Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tajikistan, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Uzbekistan and Yugoslavia met in Vienna in November 1999 in accordance with the provisions relating to the Conference on Confidence- and Security-Building Measures and Disarmament in Europe contained in the Concluding Documents of the Madrid, Vienna and Helsinki Follow-up Meetings of the OSCE.
