DUSHANBE, March 4, Asia-Plus  — Speaking at the 30th plenary session of the CIS Parliamentary Assembly in St. Petersburg on April 3, the head of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev noted that the CIS further development concept is a timely step, Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the Majlisi Milli speaker for media and NGOs, said in an interview with Asia-Plus. 

According to him, Tajik speaker also underlined the importance of working out model laws.  Ubaidulloyev also noted that keeping and strengthening of confidential and mutually acceptable relations among member nations of the CIS is one of important aspects of activity the parliamentary assembly.  He stressed that this principle should be a strategic benchmark in all forms of relationships among the CIS states “in order to eliminate one-sided approach.”

Tajik speaker also emphasized the importance of taking into account an international experience of development and establishment of contacts and mutually beneficial cooperation with other regional organizations and integration associations as one of fundamental principles of the CIS further development concept.     

Although any political system is a changing and developing structure, there ought not to absolutize this circumstance and be constantly engaged in reforming the CIS bodies, Ubaidulloyev said.  It is necessary to adapt them to new tasks of the CIS, according to him.
