DUSHANBE, April 5, Asia-Plus  — The fact that the Dushanbe cement plant has not worked for week has not yet impacted pace of construction of the Sangtuda-2 hydroelectric power plant (HHP), Rakhmetulla Alzhanov, director of open joint-stock company (OJSC) Sangtuda HPP-1, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, they still currently receive cement supplies invariably.  “Most likely, the plant now uses its reserves in order to fulfill its obligations on agreements,” the director said, noting that his company on April 1 paid 2 million US dollars for 10-day cement ration (4,800 tons).

He further added that construction of the Sangtuda-1 station is under way and it will be finished in time.

As it had been reported earlier, the second unit of the Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric power plant (HPP) is expected to be introduced into operation in July.  The third unit is planned to be put into operation in November and introduction of the last, fourth unit into operation is scheduled for March 2009.

We will recall that the opening of the first unit of the angtuda-1 station was held on January 20, 2008.  Russia’s Unified Energy Systems (RAO YeES) retains a 75 percent share in the power plant, which will generate a projected 2.7 billion kWh of electricity per annum.  The power station will have an estimated capacity of 670 MW.
