DUSHANBE, April 8, Asia-Plus  — Open joint-stock company (OJSC) Eskhata Bank considerably improved its indices in 2007.

According to the bank, its net profit for 2007 amounted to 6.6 million somonis (TJS), which is 1.4 million somonis more than in 2006.   

Eskhata Bank’s equity rose 32 percent in the year to January 1, 2008, reaching nearly 29 million somonis, and its assets rose 75 percent over the report period, exceeding 148 million somonis.   

By the end of 2007, Eskhata Bank’s loan portfolio has amounted to 79 million somonis, which is 110 percent more than by the end of 2006 (37.6 million somonis)  

The source at Eskhata Bank noted that a new deposit program introduced in January 2007 had allowed increasing the number of depositors from 227 to 551.   

Last year, Eskhata Bank opened its branches in the cities of Panjakent, Qurghon Teppa, Istaravshan and Chkalovsk as well as a clearance-loan office in the Asht district.   

In 2007, the bank opened additional 50 money-transfer offices, bringing the total number of them to 90.   

Last Year, Eskhata Bank provided 18 loans totaling $1.8 million to financial institutions in the country, according to the source.
