Correction:
The April 21 “Asia-Plus Blitz” item titled “IRPT is always ready for compromise but it remains firm in standing for spiritual values, says IRPT leader” should have quoted the British Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Graeme, as saying “During this past difficult winter, when the Tajik people needed to feel that their leaders recognized their problems and were working to solve them, I was surprised that we did not hear more from the political parties. I do not believe that it is unpatriotic to debate the country’s problems. Neither is it unpatriotic to consider alternative policies or criticize failings where they clearly exist.”
The news agency Asia-Plus presents its apologies to Mr. Loten for an inaccuracy.
