DUSHANBE, April 28, Asia-Plus  — New Pakistani Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Khalid Usman Kaisar, presented credentials to President Emomali Rahmon today.  State and further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan were a focus of Pakistani Ambassador’s discussions with the Tajik head of state.  

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with President Rahmon, Mr. Khalid Usman Kaisar noted that the peoples of the two countries share religious and cultural commonalities. 

The new Pakistani Ambassador vowed to taking efforts to expand bilateral cooperation and promote implementation of all bilateral initiatives.  

According to him, further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan in sectors like economy, culture, science and technologies, defense will promote improvement of life of the peoples of the two countries.    

Asked about the possibility of participation of Pakistan in international consortium to complete construction of the Roghun power plant in Tajikistan, Mr. Khalid Usman Kaisar said that that issue had been touched upon during his talks with President Rahmon.  “I will inform my Government in order that the possibility of participation of our private companies in the consortium would be considered,” the Pakistani Ambassador said.  

Commenting on construction of power grid from Tajikistan to Pakistan via Afghanistan, Ambassador Khalid Usman Kaisar said that the project is of significance for both sides.  He noted that he will make every effort to promote accelerating  implementation of that and other joint projects.
