DUSHANBE, April 30, Asia-Plus — The new Vietnamese Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Le Van Toan, presented credentials to President Emomali Rahmon on April 30.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Rahmon, Le said that they had discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Tajikistan.
Commenting on priorities of bilateral cooperation, Vietnamese diplomat noted that the present level of economic relations meets opportunities of the two countries and pointed to the necessity of using more actively existing potentials. He vowed to promote expansion of trade and economic relations between Vietnam and Tajikistan.
M. Le proposed to organize a forum of Tajik and Vietnamese businessmen in Dushanbe or Hanoi.
According to him, he intends to promote launch of joint ventures in Tajikistan. He stressed that only one Tajik-Vietnamese joint venture now operates in Tajikistan and expressed hope that the number of them will increase in the future.
The Vietnamese Ambassador also noted that he and Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi had discussed measures to help entrepreneurs run their businesses successfully.
He also noted that Vietnam is one of world’s leading rice producers and his country is ready to send specialists to Tajikistan to assist with development of rice growing.
“On the other hand, you have enough coal, while we experience shortage of it,” said Le Van Toan, “Therefore, we intend to cooperate with you in this sector.”
