DUSHANBE, May 2, Asia-Plus  — The Deputy Land Reclamation and Water Resources Minister, Homidjon Hasanov, considers it necessary to tighten measures against privatization of plot of lands near water bodies and construction of private facilities on banks of “strategic water bodies” in the country because it has negative impact on water quality.

According to him, amendments made to the country’s water code in last December provide for not only protecting the water and land resources against pollution but also strengthening legality and protection of rights physical and legal entities in the field of water use.

He also pointed to the necessity of taking measures to return the privatized plots of lands on banks of the “strategic water bodies, adding that local authorities illegally have granted privatization certificates for such plots of lands in many districts.

“To speed up the return of these lands it is necessary to tighten control of observance of the water code,” the deputy minister said.
