DUSHANBE, April 5, Asia-Plus  — On Saturday May 3, an awards ceremony was held for the winners of the competition “In Quest of Truth.”  The competition was staged by Tajik Journalists’ Union.    

The goal of the competition is to promote development and active involvement of mass media in Tajikistan and increase professional skills of journalists in covering socioeconomic and political events in the country.  The contest provided incentives for journalists to prepare reporting and analytical materials related to socioeconomic and political aspects of Tajikistan’s life.  Journalists in their works touched upon different economic, political and social problems facing modern Tajik society.

The jury considered works under several categories such as “Economic Analytics”, “Political Analytics”, “Social Analytics”, and “Journalistic Courage”.

After consideration of all submitted works, the jury took the following decision:

In category “Economic Analytics”: 1st place – Yeakterina Kozhevnikova of the Dushanbe weekly

In category “Political Analytics”: 1st place – Abdufattoh Vohidov of the Dushanbe weekly

In category “Social Analytics”: 1st place – Qironsho Sharifzoda, editor-in-chief of the Dushanbe weekly

Besides, the contest also determined winners in two special categories: “Journalistic Investigation” and “Newspaper of New Type.”   

Daler Ghufronov, reporter with the News Agency Asia-Plus, was recognized winner in the “Journalistic Investigation” category for material prepared specially for the Dushanbe weekly
