DUSHANBE, May 23, Asia-Plus  — A large consignment of blank passports for foreign travels is expected to have arrived in Tajikistan by the end of May, Asia-Plus has learned at the MFA.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Davlat Nazriyev, the head of the MFA information department, said that a contract for issuing 500,000 blank passports was concluded with a banknote factory within Kazakhstan’s central bank at the beginning of this year.

“Because of some malfunctions, the factory has failed to send the necessary quantity of blank passports to Tajikistan,” Nazriyev said, noting that the malfunctions were removed and Tajikistan received 1,600 blank passports in early May.

According to him, the factory’s administration has promised to send a large consignment of blank passports at the end of May.
