DUSHANBE, May 28, Asia-Plus –Dushanbe municipal authorities have raised public transport fares by 50 percent.
On May 27, Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev signed a resolution requiring rise in public transport fares in the city starting from June 1.
Beginning on June 1, fare for travel by bus will be 60 dirams (the current fare is 40 dirams), trolleybus – 50 dirams (30 dirams) and fixed-route taxi (minivan) – 90 dirams (60 dirams). The fare for travel by fixed-route taxies running on liquefied gas will rise from 60 to 70 dirams.
According Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the capital mayor, the decision to raise public transport fares is made to stabilize activity of the public transport, improve quality of passenger services. The decision also resulted from rising prices of fuel and spare parts, the spokesman said.
