DUSHANBE, May 30, Asia-Plus  — In conditions of market economy, economic disputes should be considered in arbitrations, and therefore, Tajikistan adopted the law on arbitrations in April this year, Zarif Alizoda, State Adviser to the Tajik  President for Legal Matters, announced at an international conference in Dushanbe on May 29.

The international two-day conference entitled “Development of Arbitrations in Tajikistan and International Experience” that opened in Dushanbe yesterday is considering activities of arbitrations in Tajikistan with regard to international experience.

The conference participants include experts from Russia, Iran and Afghanistan.

Dwelling on organization and experience of arbitrations in the Russian Federation, Leonid Balayan, arbitrator at International Commercial Court within Russia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, noted that processes of transition to market economy in Tajikistan and Russia are similar.

“In the Russia Federation, the process started earlier, and therefore, it has stored enough experience in arbitration proceedings,” said Russian arbitrator.  “Although Tajikistan is taking first steps towards development of arbitration, local entrepreneurs have first-hand knowledge of the fact that arbitrations are more honest and unbiased.”

Ms. Mehrinisso Abdurahmonova of the Kulob Arbitration Support Center also noted that experience of arbitration proceedings in Kulob had shown that compared to state courts arbitrations are more fair and economical.

The conference participants are also familiarizing themselves with international legal documentation for settlement of economic disputes, arbitration practices in the Islamic states, as well as a number of other issues related to this subject.
