KHUAJND, June 2, Asia-Plus  — Customs officers at the Khujand airport, Sughd province have stopped an attempt by drug trafficker to transport heroin to Russia.  

According to the Sughd customs directorate, an inspection of passengers on flight Khujand-Moscow on the night of May 31 – June 1 found 599 grams of heroin hidden in a suitcase belonging to the 49-year-old resident of the Bobojonghafurov district Maqsoudjon Andayev. 

The Sughd transportation prosecutor’s office has instituted criminal proceedings against Andayev and an investigation is under way.
