DUSHANBE, June 2, Asia-Plus — Officers from drug police have intercepted a large amount of drugs in Dushanbe, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The source at a MoI said that operation by officers from the MoI directorate for combating drug trafficking (drug police) led to the arrest of a 45-year-old resident of Khatlon’s Panj district S. Shokirov in Dushanbe on June 1.
Some 24 kilograms of drugs were confiscated from him. The totaled included some 3 kilograms of heroin, 14 kilograms of raw opium and 6.6 kilograms of hashish.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Shokirov and an investigation is under way, the source said.
