DUSHANBE, July 5, 2008, Asia-Plus  – Movies by Tajik filmmakers are shown at the Third International Film Festival that opened in Kabul, Afghanistan today.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus,  Safar Haqdodov, director of limited liability company Kinoservice, said that five movies from Tajikistan – documentary “Bread of Rashton” by Shodi Soleh, as well as four short films “Flower” by Zulfiya Sodiqova, “Light” by Denis Beketov, “Happiness” by Alisher Khoushvakhtov, and “Harom va Halol” (Clean and Unclean) by Iskandar Usmonov – will be shown during the Third International Film Festival in Kabul that runs through July 10.    

The motto of the Third International Film Festival of Kabul is “Creation is not Enough” and it takes a look back through the last two years of festivals and cultural activities.

The first film festival of Kabul took place in 2005, at the French Culture Center.  Movies from Afghanistan and selections from Germany and France were shown weekly.  It was organized by the Goethe institute and French Cultural Center.  The total number of screened films from Afghanistan was 23 and some foreign films from Germany and France were shown also.

  The second film festival was held in 2007 with the motto “Sniffing out New Talent in Afghanistan Cinema”. The second festival was also organized by the Goethe institute and French Culture Center but this time the program was coordinated by CACA KABUL’s Malek Sahi’i.  Besides Afghanistan’s movies, movies from other there countries, including Germany, France, Iran, Pakistan, and Tajikistan, were shown during the second festival.  Tajikistan was represented by two movies – “New Penelope” by Georgy Dzalayev and “Musavar in Love” by Alovuddin Abdulloyev – at the second Kabul festival.
