DUSHANBE, July 16, 2008, Asia-Plus  — A ten-day seminar on the Asian Development Bank (ADB) project and administration was launched in Dushanbe on July 15.  

Ms. Tatiana Yestifeyeva of the ADB resident Mission in Tajikistan said that the seminar organized by the ADB Resident Mission in Tajikistan jointly by the Tajik Government has brought together 45 government officials, specialists from executing agencies and project implementation units dealing with the ADB-sponsored projects.  

Mr. Makoto Ojiro, Country Director Tajikistan Resident Mission, noted that the objective of the seminar is to inform, direct and train the seminar participants in policy and procedures of the ADB on purchase of goods, services, consultant services and disbursement of funds.    

The seminar consists of lectures, interactive sessions, work in groups, the playing sessions and analysis of concrete events, Yestifeyeva said.  

Also, the seminar is intended to improve the knowledge and skills of project managers and senior staff of executing agencies in the implementation of projects in Tajikistan.

The seminar is conducted by a group of specialists from ADB’s headquarters in Manila. 

This is the second country project implementation and administration seminar to be held in Tajikistan.  The first one was held in Dushanbe in April 2004.
