DUSHANBE, July 24, 2008, Asia-Plus — The Deputy Health Minister, Sohibnazar Rahmonov, has denied information about outbreak of typhoid in the country.  

According to him, the results of the survey of the epidemiologic situation in the country have shown that 154 cases of typhoid have been registered in the country over the first six months of this year, which is 65 cases fewer than in the same period of last year.  

On other infections diseases, Rahmonov said that 2,817 cases of hepatitis have been registered in the country over the first half-year of 2008, while in January-June 2007, 3,652 cases of hepatitis were reported in Tajikistan.  

“Over the report period, 9,600 cases of an acute enteric infection have been reported in the country,” said the deputy minister “In the meantime, 12,707 cases of the acute enteric infection were reported in the country in the same period of last year.”
