DUSHANBE, July 24, 2008, Asia-Plus  — “Although we have overfulfilled the tax collection target for January-June 2008 by 15.4 percent, we have failed to fulfill president’s instruction to collect additional taxes, the head of the Tax Committee Hakim Soliyev, remarked at a press conference in Dushanbe on July 24, reminding that by president’s instruction tax officers should collect 600,000 somonis in addition to the target by the end of this year.

The tax committee head assured that they will fulfill president’s instruction and collect additional 600,000 somonis before the end of this year.  He attributed failure to fulfill the target on additional taxes for the report period to energy crisis that had seriously affected the country’s economy.

Over the report period, tax officers have transferred 840.2 million somonis to the national budget, which is 13.4 percent more that the target for this period determined  at 727.4 million somonis, Soliyev said.

According to him, the tax committee has failed to fulfill its targets on four types of taxes: they have reached 79.2 percent of the subsoil tax; state duties (87.6 percent); single tax (96 percent); and retail trade tax (98.7 percent).
