DUSHANBE, July 25, 2008, Asia-Plus  — A presentation of Chinese exhibition, entitled “Chinese-Tajik Trade and Investments”, which will be held in Dushanbe from July 29 to August 1, was held at Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) yesterday. 

Representatives of China’s Ministry of Commerce and large companies attended the presentation.    

Speaking at the presentation, Odil Sangov, the first deputy head of CCI, that holding of that exhibition was initiated during last year’s visit of President Emomali Rahmon to China, according to the CCI press service.  According to him, it will be the largest exhibition not only in Tajikistan but in the region as whole.   

Mr. Gunt Shuan Si (phonetically spelled) of the Chinese Embassy in Dushanbe noted that the exhibition will promote further expansion of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.   He noted that a two-way trade between China and Tajikistan last year amounted to $520 million and expressed hope that this year, this amount will increase much more.

Mr. Chen Shan Chen (phonetically spelled), director general of China’s company rehabilitating the Dushanbe-Kyrgyzstan border road, noted that the first phase of the project will be finished by late August.

Representative of ZTE, China’s largest wireless and telecommunications manufacturer, also spoke at the exhibition-presentation ceremony.  He noted that ZTE has offered its products and service in Tajikistan since April 2002.  

Sangov noted that a number of business forums with participation of entrepreneurs of the two countries will be held in Dushanbe on sidelines of the exhibition.    

The exhibition director, Mr. Lui Tsin Yuan (phonetically spelled), noted that 70 Chinese companies will participate in the exhibition that will be held at the Kokhi Vahdat State Complex. 

They will put on display their achievements in machinery, mining, telecommunications, jewelry and light industry at the fair in Dushanbe.
