DUSHANBE, August 5, 2006, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan has yielded some 268,000 tons of wheat from 157,060 hectares by August 5, Narzullo Dadaboyev, a spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, framers have planted wheat on 218,390 hectares this year. Average wheat productivity has amounted to 1.9 tons per hectare, the spokesman said.
In all, 284,237 hectares of farmland have been sown with cereals this year, according to figures provided by the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA). By August 5, more than 295,000 tons of cereals have been harvested from 173,948 hectares.
